Being a bit of a cycling fanatic, when I bought my 6 speed GIATEX the challenge was on to trick it up a little. The bike was nice to ride in its standard spec (to my surprise) but I do like to personalise my bikes so the GIATEX wasn't going to escape the treatment. I converted the bike to 8 speed by squeezing an 8 speed cassette onto a 7 speed hub (too long to explain) changed the Revoshift to trigger shifters and fitted some aftermarket brakes, grips and bar ends. I'm a tall man so I needed some extra length in the head stem so an A-Head stem was fitted. A Shimano 105 rear derailleur and crankset was also fitted to give the bike some serious gearing for longer rides. A set of fast rolling, high pressure Shwalbe tyres and a sporty saddle pretty much completed the bike. I have to say the ride of the bike is very good. I take it out on some touring rides and have no problem. The bike handles exceptionally well. |
